Artist's Statement: Analog Collages

My analog collages are guided by the subconscious, allowing spontaneous discovery to shape work that leans toward surrealism and fantasy. While my process begins in a space of unconscious play, the work itself is rooted in a reverence for history, nature, memory, and the spaces we inhabit.

I use paper fragments--ephemera, maps, magazine clippings, junk mail, and snippets of text from vintage books. I select my papers for their tactile qualities--torn edges, distressed surfaces, embossed patterns, and translucent layers. These elements are layered with handmade or patterned papers, sometimes with added paint, colored pencil, image transfers, and gel prints to build the surface. Through these handmade, layered narratives, I invite the viewer to pause, to discover the beauty in small details, and to notice connections.

Ultimately, these visual narratives reveal that our individual moments do not exist in isolation. They belong to a universal continuum--a larger, unfolding story of time and place that connects us all.
